Name: Mansfield Lecture: The Meaning of Leadership
    Date: September 18, 2017
    Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM MDT
    Event Description:
"FVCC invites the community to the inaugural Mansfield Lecture featuring former Montana Gov. Mark Racicot. Inspired by the life and legacy of Montana’s Michael Joseph Mansfield, who served as a U.S. Representative from 1943-1953 and as a U.S. Senator from 1953-1977, FVCC’s annual Mansfield Lecture seeks to promote a spirit of inclusivity and collaboration. During his many years at the Capitol and afterward as the U.S. Ambassador to Japan from 1977-1989, Mansfield’s thoughtful statesmanship, political finesse and humble personality gained him wide respect from Republicans and Democrats alike. Racicot, this year’s guest speaker, served as Montana’s 21st governor from 1993 to 2001. He was the chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2002-2003 and led the re-election campaign for former Pres. George W. Bush. A graduate of Libby High School and the University of Montana’s School of Law, Racicot had the opportunity to know Mansfield on a personal and professional basis. As part of his lecture on “The Meaning of Leadership,” Racicot will share some of the lessons he learned from the legendary Mansfield. Free and open to the public, the lecture will begin at 7 pm on September 18, in the Arts and Technology Building on campus. For more information about the lecture, contact Dr. Gerda Reeb at 756-3889."
