If you stay in town, getting to Whitefish Mountain Resort is easy. Just hop on the free Snow bus with stops throughout Whitefish and shuttle between Whitefish and Whitefish Mountain Resort. A huge array of designated Nordic touring trails of varying difficulty is available throughout the Whitefish area with 44 kilometers of groomed trails at three different locations. The Whitefish Lake Golf Club magically transforms into the Glacier Nordic Center in winter, a 12-kilometer Nordic touring center that is tracked and groomed for skating and classic skiing with rentals and lessons available. Night owls can take advantage of the 5 kilometers of lit trails for night skiing. The Big Mountain Nordic Trails offer 25 kilometers of beautiful and challenging trails and the 6-kilometer Meadow Lake Nordic Trails at Meadow Lake Resort offer some gentle beginner terrain. Skiing in Glacier National Park takes you through breathtaking scenery. The area offers numerous backcountry skiing options for telemarkers and alpine touring skiers. Guides can also be arranged. Whitefish is proud to have an indoor ice rink called the Stumptown Den - complete with Zamboni! The rink is a popular stop for public skating, adult drop in hockey, youth hockey, figure skating, skating lessons, broomball, and concessions.
