Please join us at Stumptown Art Studio for an opening reception for local artist Jeanne Tallman. Her current show is titled: "The Journey Of My Life Through The Magic Of Watercolor" Artist Bio: My children wouldn’t play Pictionary with me because I couldn’t draw anything recognizable except a stick figure. That hurt, so I set out to prove them wrong, and to prove that with practice and perseverance I could learn to draw and to paint, and to experience the excitement of creating a story with paper, watercolors and a brush. Karen Leigh taught me to see a myriad of colors in a tree trunk. She is my constant critic and consummate teacher. Ted Nuttall showed me the difference between a beautiful face and an interesting face, which one I should paint, and how to bring a portrait to life. Kath Macauley demonstrated the art of quick-draw and the fun of filling a sketch book with paintings. Bev Wozniak stressed the importance of the contrast between light and dark, and pleaded, “keep it loose” and “the background is part of the story.” Genie Kell challenged me to “paint big, bold and wild.” And so I did. Now Stumptown Art Studio is showing my work to the public and to prove to my children what can happen when the right teacher comes along and the student is waiting. **** Gallery Nights is the first Thursday of each month during the summer from 6-9pm. Each month a new schedule of artists will be showcased in the many downtown galleries of Whitefish. Come enjoy a night out, mingle, and meet the artists. Light snacks and beverages served.
