Intermountain is a non-profit agency that has been impacting the lives of children and families for over 100 years and we are currently looking for a part-time to possibly full-time Substitute Teacher for our Whitefish Day Treatment Program.
Intermountain’s Whitefish Day Treatment serves children grades Kindergarten through 4th that have a high level of emotional needs in combination with behavioral disorders which have impeded their successful functioning making them difficult to manage in their home, school and community. The purpose is to work collaboratively with families, schools and communities to support the child in the most normative home and school environment possible. This is accomplished through relationships that are formed in the classroom and psychotherapy settings. The programs goal is to prevent children and their families from moving into more restrictive and expensive levels of care and to collaboratively support and empower them toward increased social integration, normative functioning and self-sufficiency.
Rooted in a 30 year history of success with a developmental relational approach, Intermountain’s Day Treatment provides a trusted option in Montana’s beautiful Flathead Valley near Glacier National Park.
Some of the challenges our clients may have are:
- Emotional dysregulation
- Intractable anger
- Adoption issues
- Attachment and relationship issues
- ADD, ADHD
- Impulsivity, including lying and stealing
- Oppositionality and/or defiance
- Aggression towards self and others
- School problems
- Loss and grief issues
- Poor social skills, and social development
- High functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorder
- Peer relationships
The Special Education Substitute Teacher assumes the lead role in, integrating and delivering group and individualized curriculum, in accordance with agency, state and federal special education rules and regulations, to children who receive services in a therapeutic treatment setting and who suffer from a variety of educational disabilities.
The Special Education Substitute Teacher is responsible for imparting their expertise to collaborative efforts with other professionals toward fulfilling the agency mission and to assuring excellence in the agency’s education program services.
Graduate from an accredited college or university with a B.S. or B.A. degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Special-Education K-12 is preferred.
Must possess and maintain a valid Montana driver’s license.
Position is part-time to possibly full-time, salary commensurate with experience.
